About Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana:
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMSBY) was created to pay farmers for crop loss due to natural calamities. This scheme will be implemented in every state of India in collaboration with the respective state governments. A budget of Rs 8,800 crore was made for this scheme.
Under the scheme, 2% premium will be paid for Kharif crop and 1.5% premium for Rabi crop. Apart from Kharif and Rabi crops, the scheme also provides protection for commercial and horticultural crops. How to claim Pradhan mantri Fasal Bima Yojana:
If you want to claim this scheme, then you have to provide information about small scale natural calamities to the insurance company. To make a claim, first of all, the farmer has to inform the insurance company, bank or state government officer about the damage caused to the crop. This information has to be given within 72 hours of the loss. The under loss for the next 10 days will be assessed to determine the loss. After all this process is done successfully, the insurance amount will be transferred to your account within 15 days.
Update of Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana:
Every year around 5.5 crore farmers apply under this scheme. Government of India has recently launched an online insurance portal for proper dissemination of information and transparency for better governance of farmers. The government has launched an application named “Crop Insurance App” which can be downloaded from the website of the Department of Crop Insurance, Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare.
